Plain-language summary: this site only asks you for personal information when you choose to contact us or book a call. That information is used to reply to you and, if you become a client, to build and support your website — never sold, and never used for third-party advertising. Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains how Bou Studio ("we", "us", "the studio"), operated by Logan Howat, collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you visit bou-studio.com or contact us through it. It applies to visitors, prospective clients and current clients.

What information we collect

We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, through the contact form, the booking widget, or by messaging us directly on WhatsApp or email. Depending on which of these you use, this may include:

  • Your name
  • Your email address and/or phone number
  • Details about your business and the project you're enquiring about
  • Your preferred date and time for a call, if you use the booking widget
  • Any other information you choose to include in your message

We do not use cookies, ad-tracking pixels, or any third-party analytics or advertising network on this site. The site does use your browser's local storage to remember small preferences — like whether you prefer light or dark mode — but this information stays on your own device and is never transmitted to us or anyone else.

How we use your information

We use the information you give us only to:

  • Respond to your enquiry or booking request
  • Discuss, quote and deliver a website project with you as a client
  • Provide ongoing support if you're on one of our Care Plans
  • Keep basic records of past and current client work

We do not use your information for unrelated marketing without your consent, and we never sell or rent your personal information to any third party.

How your information is sent to us

When you submit the contact form or booking widget, your details are sent using EmailJS, a third-party transactional email service, so that we receive it by email. If EmailJS isn't available, you may be offered a WhatsApp link instead, in which case your message is sent directly through WhatsApp (operated by Meta) under WhatsApp's own privacy terms. We recommend reviewing WhatsApp's privacy policy separately if you choose that option.

How long we keep your information

If you become a client, we keep your contact and project details for as long as reasonably needed to deliver and support your website, and afterwards for basic business record-keeping. If your enquiry doesn't turn into a project, we keep it only as long as needed to follow up with you, and delete or anonymise it after a reasonable period of inactivity.

Your rights under POPIA

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct or update inaccurate information
  • Ask us to delete your information, where there's no legal or contractual reason we need to keep it
  • Object to how your information is being used
  • Lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator if you believe your information has been mishandled

Security

We take reasonable steps to keep the information you share with us secure, including relying on established, reputable third-party services (like EmailJS) for message delivery rather than building our own storage systems. No method of transmission over the internet is ever 100% secure, but we don't share your information beyond what's needed to respond to you or deliver your project.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for business owners and decision-makers. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the studio grows. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest version.
